Phantom @ OHC 2026

Good Evening!

I'm happy to announce that I'll be working at the Otakon 2026 Host Club, as Host Phantom. I've long been interested in host clubs, from the theatrics involved in hosting, to amount of genderplay that convention host clubs in particular tend to attract (the legacy of Ouran High School Host Club maybe,) to the kind of role-reversal inherent to the concept, to the fact that they are arguably the purest application of the concept of narrative consumption to individual people. Now I get to observe them from as close up as I can get without making a trip to Japan, and I'm taking you with me! As your companion for the evening, I'll make conversation with you, have a drink with you, play games with you, celebrate and commiserate with you, and place myself enitely at your disposal.

In addition to hanging out and generally doting on guests, hosts at the convention also have "talents"—special acts offered for a fee, and usually unique to each host. These talents are typically listed on a menu, and mine is given below, with a downloadable PDF here. You don't need to memorize this—I'll hand you a copy at the club—but it'll help you plan for the convention. See you there!

Mars Bar Challenge	I hand-feed you a Mars bar. This isn't really a challenge, but it always seems to make a stunt more popular when you call it that.	$10
Host-on-Host Action	Watch me kiss another host, voyeur.	$20
Pistol Squat	I've recently learned to do a pistol squat, and would be happy to show one off for you. Limit one per session, though—I need to stand on these legs all night.	$15
Super Real Yakuman	Challenge me to a game of Yakuman over a Game Boy Link Cable! If you win, I will slowly undo my bow tie. If you lose, you get a freebie off the menu for your trouble. One rematch allowed per guest (time is a finite resource of which this takes a considerable amount,) and no second freebie if you lose it. (2nd Game Boy Pocket, Game Link Cable, and game provided by me.) NOTE: I picked up Mahjong recently, purely for the sake of this bit, and am enough of a novice that you have a decent shot at winning if you know what you're doing.
